FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - Sebastian County authorities say a filing glitch appears to be the cause of the mistaken release of an inmate from the county jail.
Sheriff's spokesman Philip Pevehouse says 30-year-old Casey Lambert was released Thursday night after completing jail time and paying a fine for a misdemeanor - despite having a hold placed on him by the state Department of Correction. Lambert was found and taken back into custody later Thursday.
Pevehouse says Lambert's status should have been reclassified when the hold was placed on him and that the filing system is being upgraded.
