MARION COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - An assistant fire chief in Marion County was arrested Monday on felony charges.

According to deputies, Rea Valley assistant fire chief Bryan Stubinger, 43, was arrested for first degree battery and two counts of arson. They say the arrest stems from a report that someone had set fire to his truck and hit him in the head with a hammer as he was running outside to the fire.

Deputies say that while the victim was at the sheriff's department providing more information, a call came in that the house had caught fire. After reviewing surveillance video from the home, deputies believe Stubinger to be the suspect and he was then arrested.

According to deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Department, there had been previous problems between the two parties in the past.

Stubinger's bond was set at $50,000 and the investigation is ongoing.
