LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The case of an east coast storm, can Arkansans expect the prices to rise? The big question on Monday was will Hurricane Sandy force us to pay more at the pump. The average gallon in Arkansas on Monday would cost you about $3.41 for a gallon of gas.

In the next few days -- it will likely be a few cents more. Chief economist Dr. Michael Pakko at UALR says Sandy will hit us in the wallet -- but not that hard.

Since the majority of our oil comes from the Gulf, economists are not expecting a big jump. The only increase that you may notice is due to the fear of what the future hold for this gigantic storm.

Dr. Pakko also said that within a week, prices should be back to normal. Until then, it looks like we may be tacking on another nickel or so for a gallon before the weekend.
