UNDATED (CNN) -- This year has been a good one for Chrysler so far.
The automaker reports its third quarter profits are up 80 percent compared to a year ago.
The company said its net income for the third quarter hit a whopping $381 million up from $212 million in 2011's third quarter. But, it's down compared to the first two quarters of this year.
All told, though, Chrysler projects its net income will reach a total of roughly $1.5 billion this year.
The news comes after last month's news that U-S auto sales hit their highest level in more than four years.
