FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - Police in Fort Smith say a man suspected of breaking into a home on the city's west side and stabbing a resident to death has also died.
Sgt. Daniel Grubbs said in a news release Tuesday that 23-year-old Eric Boyd died at a Fort Smith hospital Monday night.
Police say Boyd is suspected of breaking into the home about 4 a.m. Monday and stabbing 24-year-old John Jackson before being subdued by Jackson's brother and father. Jackson died later at a Fort Smith hospital.
Investigators say Boyd was unconscious on the floor inside the home when officers arrived. The nature of Boyd's injuries has not been released.
