THV's Ashley Blackstone & Joe Sachs
JACKSONVILLE, (KTHV) -- Pay it Forward. You've probably heard that phrase a lot on 'Today's THV This Morning.' For those who have joined the mission, you know there's an incredible power and positive energy in giving.
It's rush hour at 5 p.m. outside the Little Rock Air Force Base and Joe Sachs is greeting drivers.
He says, "The more traffic the better. This is just my way of saying thank you. "I want to get my messages out to the most people I can."
Holding a thank you sign to our military personnel; the Cabot man is on a mission with a simple but powerful message. He says, "I just thought it would be really cool to do something where I gave instead of I took."
So, a few nights a week he stands as hundreds of servicemen and women pour out of the base. He smiles, "Completely outside of my box."
The idea blossomed after hearing his pastor's sermon on being bold and giving back. He says, "It finally got to me and I got the courage to do it."
It's a bit chilly on this particular night, 40 degrees. But to Sachs, the temperature is no concern. His focus is Arkansas soldiers. He says, "These troops, they go overseas. They're in the heat, they're in the sand," he explains. "They leave their families. They miss so many important moments. "That just breaks my heart."
Wait two minutes and you'll hear the reaction. Dozens of cars honk as they pass by.
He's a bus driver by day and inspirer by night. A hero giving back to heroes. He says, "I just wanted to make a positive difference."
And that Joe Sachs, you have.
Sachs has also held thank you signs for firefighters, police and teachers. He's currently busy preparing for his first ever community wide signing event!
Remember, pay it forward, share a smile, and make a difference.
