North Little Rock, Ark. (KTHV) -- You get home from a long day at work, jump out of the car and rush into the house to relax. But what are you forgetting? Did you lock your car?
A string of car break-ins in North Little Rock are all mostly due to one simple error: not locking your door.
People are losing their cell phones, navigation systems, and even guns to car break-ins. North Little Rock police say they've seen a 60 percent increase in car-break-ins because people are not locking their doors and leaving valuables in plain sight. Sgt. Brian Dedrick says it's important to make break-ins as difficult as possible by taking a few steps.
While it's easier to leave things in your car, putting them in the trunk or bringing things inside is always the smarter option.
This is an especially important reminder with the holiday season right around the corner. Because most of recent break-ins take place in the evening, officers expect daytime break-ins to pick up during the busy shopping season.
