LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Home builders and home decorators big and small are invited to participate in the 25th Annual Gingerbread Extravaganza, hosted by Treatment Homes Inc.
It will be held at the Arkansas State Capitol on Dec. 9, 2012, from 1 to 4 p.m. Activities will include a Holiday Coloring Contest, a Gingerbread House Decorating Competition, Celebrity Tour of Homes and Photos with Santa (2-3 p.m. only).
Pre-assembled gingerbread house kits are available for immediate pick-up from Treatment Homes at 700 W. Fourth Street in Little Rock. They are priced at $10/small, $25/large and $10/train. To enter the competition, participants must submit their entry forms (available from from www.treatmenthomes.org.) to Treatment Homes by Dec. 5 and deliver the decorated homes to the State Capitol on Dec. 9, between 8 and 9 a.m. No entry fee is required. Visitors to the Extravaganza in the afternoon will determine their favorite gingerbread houses and the winners of the Viewer's Choice Awards.
Students Pre-K-5 may participate in the Holiday Coloring Contest, sponsored by Cabot Office Machines, which distributed thousands of coloring sheets to elementary schools in Central Arkansas. The deadline for submissions was Dec. 1. No entry fee was required and the winners will be determined by a jury of art students from Little Rock Parkview High School. Select entries will be on display at the Extravaganza.
The Gingerbread Extravaganza is hosted annually by Treatment Homes Inc. to raise funds to purchase Christmas presents for children in foster care.
