DALLAS, TX (CNN/WFFA) -- An apartment building with an unfortunate association has been demolished.

This Dallas building was once home to Lee Harvey Oswald, the man who assassinated President John F. Kennedy.

Oswald and his wife lived in a ground floor apartment in 1962.

He moved from the home before JFK was killed in November 1963.

Dallas historian Freda Dillard says, "Yeah it is sad. It's sad to see history being destroyed regardless of the background of it."

The person who owned the home planned to renovate it but because it was so run down, officials eventually asked that it be torn down.
