UCA squads break records at Iowa State Classic

AMES, Iowa (UCA) -- The University of Central Arkansas women's track squad turned in six Top 10 performances and broke two school records last weekend at the Iowa State Classic, while the men's team had six Top 10 finishes and set three school records.

Sophomore Tanesha Maxwell had a third-place finish in the 200 meters in a school-record time of 24.89 and a fourth-place finish in the 60 meters (7.65). Khadijah Smith was eighth in the 200, breaking the school record with a time of 25.28, and was also 11th in the 400 meters (57.82). Maya Minter was fourth in the high jump (5-2.5), while Alex Dorch was third in the long jump (18-4.5).

Junior Megan Snow was sixth in the pentathlon (3,212), junior Jasmine Ellis was seventh (3,194) and junior April Martin was eighth (3,107). Ellis was second in the long jump portion of the heptathlon, while Snow was second in the 60-meter hurdles event.

On the men's side, UCA's distance medley of Ryan Davidson, Elvis Stewart, Jams Leonard and Corentin Louis was fourth in a school-record time of 10:14.72. Tray Carter was fourth in the heptathlon (4,524) and Benjamin Jordan was fifth (4,035). Carter was second in the long jump and 60 meter events, while Jordan was second in the 1,000 meters.

Freshman Chance Tanner finished sixth in the 400 meters, setting a school record with a time of 48.47, while sophomore Amos Gerber was eighth in the 5,000 meters in a school-record time of 15:01.99. Louis also finished eighth in the 3,000 meters (8:28.92).
