LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- The Little Rock School District is appealing a lawsuit filed back in 2010 over charter schools.
Board members voted Thursday night 5 to 2 to move forward with their challenge to the US Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit. The district argues charter schools violate the state's desegregation settlement.
School board president Dianne Curry said they want their argument heard in court.
"It has nothing against charter schools themselves. It's about the way charters are ran verses public schools and its all public money," she said.
Curry said there are a lot of things playing a role in this decision, including the choices that must be made by this legislative session.
