RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (UAM) - University of Arkansas at Monticello junior shortstop Ben Agredano has been named the Great American Conference Baseball Player of the Week after recording a 1.000 slugging percentage with two homeruns in this past weekend's three game conference sweep over Northwestern Oklahoma State at home.
Agredano was 7-for-13 at the plate over the weekend with five runs batted in, five runs scored and two homeruns. His first homerun of the series gave UAM an 8-6 victory over the Rangers in a game that was suspended on Friday due to darkness and resumed on Saturday. With the score tied at 6 runs each in the bottom of the ninth, Agredano sent a two-out, full-count pitch over the left field fence to give UAM the victory in walk-off style.
He was 2-for-3 in that game, also tallying an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning.
The Anaheim, Calif. native was also instrumental in UAM's 10-9 victory on Saturday, smashing a two-run homerun to left field in the bottom of the third.
Agredano started his impressive weekend, collecting four base hits in five at bats in UAM's 12-3 win over the Rangers in the series opener on Friday.
Agredano and the Boll Weevils (7-3) are back in action this afternoon with a non-conference contest against Lyon College. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
