KANSAS CITY, MO (CNN) -- Fire investigators say an employee of a subcontractor laying fiber optic
cable hit a 2-inch gas line about an hour before a gas explosion killed
one person in Kansas City, Missouri.
Officials say one person was found in the rubble where JJ's Restaurant once stood.
Authorities do not know what caused the leaking gas to ignite.
At least 16 people were hurt and two are reportedly in intensive care.
The city's mayor gave an update on the investigation. Mayor Sly James says, "The people stage of this investigation has basically concluded we are now moving into that part of the investigation about what caused the explosion and what are the aftermath's and results of the explosion, etc."
Investigators believe there are no more missing people or undiscovered bodies.
