MONROE COUNTY, GA (CNN) -- Andrew Cook was executed by the state of Georgia Thursday for killing two Mercer University students in 1995.
Cook was sentenced to death for the random shooting deaths at Lake Juliette, in Monroe County.
He was the first person Georgia executed using a single dose of a sedative instead of a series of three drugs.
Before his death, Cook apologized to his family and the famlies of the victims.
