LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- The national gun debate is fueling interest in concealed carry classes around Arkansas.
Mark Mundy, a class instructor, says he's seen a large increase over the last six months. The concealed carry course teaches the fundamentals and safety of carrying a hand gun.
It also teaches gun law and proper shooting techniques. Mundy says the course always brings up a number of questions. He says, "There's always a lot of concern and a lot of questions about when and where they can use their hand gun for personal defense. We always like to make sure that they operate the gun safely and we always like to preach that the hand gun is not your first line of defense it's your last resort."
Mundy's class is about 50 percent men and 50 percent women. He says most women take the course for self defense and others to express their second amendment rights.
