Coach Scott Maxfield announced Tuesday that Charpentier was "going through a difficult period" and was leaving for personal reasons.

The Broussard, La. native transferred to Henderson State prior to the 2007 season.

Charpentier completed 20 of 34 passes for 189 yards and threw for four touchdowns last Saturday against North Alabama. He was coming off a one-game suspension for violating team rules.

Charpentier is Henderson State's all-time leading passer with 4,512 yards in just 21 games. During those games, Charpentier set an HSU record with 43 touchdown tosses. He completed 362 of 621 passes, 58 percent.
