The William F. Laman Public Library System is celebrating the end of summer reading with a special event called Lamanpalooza.

The family-friendly event will be Friday, August 6th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Musical guest Trout Fishing in America will perform. Activities will include caricatures with Jim Tindall, bead-making with Argenta Bead Company, chalk art with THEA Foundation, finger-printing with Officer Tommy Norman of the North Little Rock Police Department and more.

Visitors will have a chance to win a 32GB iPad 3G. To qualify for the drawing, participants must visit several locations in the library and get their Laman passport stamped. Once all the locations have been visited, a participant can be entered into the drawing. The main library will also have other great prizes to give away.

"We're really thrilled to have this event and hope it's a service to the community because that's what we're built around," says Jamie Walden, PR manager at Laman. "We are much more than books. They are our bread and butter but we really like to offer a whole lot of things for them to do."

Lamanpalooza is free and open to the public.

Another interesting feature at the Laman Library is the new teen center. According to Walden, this is a place where teenagers can have a good time while staying out of trouble. The teen center boasts a flat screen TV, a Wii, computers and more.
