LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) --  Too often we report the negative news, but great things are happening in your community each day.

Here's a look at the Brighter Side....

Fill the boot for MDA
Firefighters from Little Rock Local 34 will be taking to the streets today, May 4 and tomorrow, May 5 to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Last year they raised over $42,000 to enhance local services that MDA provides such as local MDA clinics (Arkansas Children's Hospital and UAMS), equipment loan closets, and summer camp. This year they have set their goal at $50,000.

Firefighters will be stationed with their boots at the corners of Chenal and Bowman and Markham and University accepting donations from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association helps children and adults who are affected by the 43 neuromuscular diseases covered by MDA's comprehensive medical services and research programs. All of the money raised will be used right here in the Central Arkansas area as well as worldwide research initiatives.

For more information, contact Erica Dierich, Executive Director of Central Arkansas MDA or Charles Austin of Little Rock IAFF Local 34 at 501-352-7716.
