LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Too often we report the negative news, but great things are happening in your community each day.

Here's a look at a few stories that are on The Brighter Side...

Fayetteville has landed on the list of the top affordable cities in the country. The home of the University of Arkansas was named #9 on the list.

The Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER) ranked 304 urban areas according to average local costs. Among the components were: food items, home purchase or rental, clothing, utilities, services, health care, and other expenses.  

According to the list, the cost of living in Fayetteville is 86.3 percent of the national average. Fayetteville also offers the cheapest average prices for bread and frozen dinners.

Harlingen, Texas was named #1. Norman and Muskogee, Oklahoma, Pueblo, Colorado and Memphis, Tennessee rounded out the top 5.

And if you're looking for an activity for the kids on Saturday, look no further than the Delta Rivers Nature Center in Pine Bluff.  

Kids are 4 to 12 are invited to the 'Nature Crafts for Kids' event from 10 a.m. to noon. They'll be designing and creating their own wallets to take home.

And some Arkansas soldiers made the most of spending Thanksgiving overseas.

Brigadier General Bud Jameson Jr. is from Sherwood and spent his Thanksgiving in Kuwait. He's party of the 316th Expeditionary Sustainment Command serviving in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The group will be deployed through the holiday season.
