LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The Arkansas Arts Center, the state's premiere center for visual and performing arts, presents the 44th Collectors Show & Sale, on view November 30 - December 30, 2012, in the Sam Strauss, Sr. and Stella Boyle Smith Galleries.
The 44th Collectors Show & Sale is an annual Arkansas Arts Center tradition that brings the New York gallery scene to Little Rock.
Arkansas Arts Center Executive Director Todd Herman and curators selected the best in drawings and contemporary craft from 28 New York galleries. All works are for sale and vary in price, from $400 to in excess of $100,000.00.
"This year's sale features a variety of artwork that provides seasoned buyers an opportunity to find a new and unique piece for their collection in addition to allowing new collectors to join the exciting world of art collecting," said Herman. "The curators and I work diligently to find the best of the best to be featured at the Arkansas Arts Center."
The exhibition includes works-on-paper such as drawings, prints, and photographs, as well as examples of contemporary craft in wood and ceramic, including a number of works made by leading Japanese ceramists.
The 44th Collectors Show & Sale will showcase diverse works, dating from the 16th century to the present, and made by such established and emerging artists as Stefano della Bella, Hubert Robert, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, Edouard Vuillard, Thomas Sully, Alfred Thompson Bricher, George Ault, Arthur Dove, John Marin, Oscar Bluemner, Thomas Hart Benton, Gaston Lachaise, Philip Pearlstein, Theodoros Stamos, Frank Stella, Brett Bigbee, John Himmelfarb, and Michael Waugh, among others.
