LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- The Alex Foundation and Parkview High School will launch College and Career Ready Day on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Parkview High School in Little Rock.
The event is intended to raise awareness among students and educators about the interdisciplinary connections that link math, art and architecture and to encourage students from vulnerable communities to pursue architecture and architecture-related careers.
College and Career Ready Day offers an opportunity to directly mentor students and introduce them to careers in the design and build environments; connect industry and university professionals with students for real-time experiential learning; give students exposure to actual college coursework; improve students access to college; increase student enrollment in architecture-related fields; and provide college preparation to support students' academic and professional success. Participants in this year's College and Career Ready Day include: Fay Jones School of Architecture, University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Wittenberg, Delony and Davidson Architects.
