MIAMI, Fla. (CBS/WFOR) -- Hundreds of pounds of glass and concrete crumbled, smashed and destroyed at a high end boutique in Miami's Design District.

The front of Tanya Marie Designs at NE 2nd Ave and 46th Street was destroyed. Co-owner Fred Mclendon says, "It's happens, you go on, you try to figure out a way where it won't happen again."

Around 12:30 last night, Mclendon says he got a call that this van full of thieves burst through his business and stole $50,000 worth of couture custom made designs. Tanya says, "You know that's basically what they went after (was) the customs dresses."

Original dresses that stylist and designer Tanya Marie Mclendon not only created but also sewed together. She says, "If you know that they're going to be buying some really one of a kind cool little dresses, they're mine. I'll know it if I see it cause there's only one."

The couple just moved their business into this location six weeks ago from Coral Gables. Neighbors say they've seen this type of crime here before. Neighbor Alex Tores says, "It's really safe, but once in a while we have people from around coming in and doing things they shouldn't do."

The boutique has eight surveillance cameras that were all rolling when the thieves burst though the front door.

Now this business featuring beach wear to bridal says they will get back on their feet. Tanya says, "We're here, we're going to be here for a while, we're going to stay here and really create something beautiful in this area."
