LA MESA, Calif. (CNN/KGTV) -- You might call it a case of robbers foiled by wrappers. Not hip hop stars, but junk food wrapping.

A Hansel and Gretel like trail, but not quite. This one was a trail of Doritos, Oreos, even Cheetos, leading all the way from a little league snack bar to a house a few blocks away.

Inside that house, police found this man, along with two women and a girl who they say broke into a Rolando little league snack bar.

A neighbor called 911 after hearing a lot of noise, but the suspects were already gone. Police say if it wasn't for the trail of chips and cookies, the four suspects may have gotten away.

Also found at the house, the snack bar's cash register, the cash still inside.

Sgt. Colin Atwood says, "Searching the area, officers found similar snacks behind a vehicle parked just a couple of blocks from the park, contacted the owner of the vehicle and we're currently investigating and talking to several potential suspects."
