UNDATED (USA TODAY) -- One fan has given the term "birdie" a whole new meaning.

While Bob Costas was interviewing new U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson, a fan interrupted and, well, acted like a bird of some sort (we think).

Simpson showed us that he's not only a pretty good golfer, he also has a sense of humor.

"Enjoy the jail cell, pal," the first-time major winner said.

Simpson followed up his interview with a picture of the moment on his Twitter account and the caption 'my new friend.'
