Today is National Cheesecake Day. And here's something that may surprise you...
The creamy, sweet goodness has a connection to the Olympics. It was thought to be a good source of energy in ancient Greece. It was served to the first Olympians in 776 B.C. But, the dessert we all know and love as cheesecake actually got its start in New York back in the 1870's.
Arnold Reuben, the same Reuben of sandwich game, is credited with the cheese-based recipe for the New York-style cheesecake.
