CHINA (CNN) -- More than 20 decorated boats loaded with fresh flowers are ready for the floating flower market set to open to public on Thursday at Litchi Bay in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province.

Most of the fresh flowers have been transported by air from other cities. A rich variety of flowers will be carried by boats and presented to visitors during a 40-day period from Feb. 7 to Mar. 13.

The flower boats will provide three one-hour cruises per day and tickets are sold to tourists at 50 yuan a person. There will also be performers playing Chinese zither and singing Cantonese songs at the floating flower market.

As the Chinese Spring Festival nears, the city of Guangzhou opens its flower markets and extends the duration of business hours to attract customers.

The flower market in the Baiyun District of Guangzhou was the first to open for business on Tuesday. Various flowers and plants with connotations of auspicious wishes are currently on sale in the market.

Flower markets in other districts of the city are still preparing and will open soon.

Guangzhou will see flower markets open for 18 days this year, half a month longer than the three-days they were open in previous years.
