PERRYVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is investigating the deaths of about 150 white bass in a lake in Perry County.
Officials say a property owner on the 1,200-acre Harris Brake Lake reported seeing ten fish floating near his dock on Tuesday. Game and Fish Commission officials say biologists investigated the report and found more fish floating and along the lake's shoreline.
Several fish have been collected for tests, which may take up to 30 days to complete. Officials say water quality parameters appear to be within the normal ranges for the lake, and the only physical abnormalities on the fish were redness around the base of the fins and inflamed and eroded gills.
Officials say there's no concern with the eating or handling of live fish in the lake.
