Amherst, MA (Sports Network) - Massachusetts football will visit Boston
College and play five home games as part of an 11-game schedule announced on
Friday.
The Minutemen will open their 129th season of football in the first night game
at Holy Cross on Thursday, Sept. 1 in Worcester.
Their first home game at McGuirk Alumni Stadium will be against CAA Football
rival Rhode Island on Saturday, Sept. 17.
The Minutemen will then travel to Chestnut Hill to take on Boston College on
Sept. 24.
UMass will play New Hampshire in the Second Annual Colonial Clash at Gillette
Stadium on Oct. 22 in Foxboro. The other three home games will be at
McGuirk Stadium against Central Connecticut State (Oct. 8), Villanova on
Homecoming Day (Nov. 5) and James Madison (Nov. 19).
The Minutemen finished 6-5 under coach Kevin Morris last season.
UMass administration is studying the possibility of leaving the Football
Championship Subdivision for the Mid-American Conference of the Bowl
Subdivision in the future.
