FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - According to the University of Arkansas, Jessica Dorrell resigned late this afternoon from her position with Razorback Athletics, effective immediately.

Dorrell was employed with the program as a student-athlete development coordinator. In the university's announcement, athletic director Jeff Long said he and Dorrell agreed her resignation was in the best interest of both parties.

Long said, "While Ms. Dorrell had a legitimate right to apply for and accept a position within the football program, the circumstances surrounding the former coach's decision to hire her compromised her ability to be effective in such a position," he said. "She and I believe she should have the opportunity to move on."

According to the university, Dorrell agreed she would not attempt to sell or profit from her affiliation with Razorback Athletics. As part of a settlement and "resolution of all matters between the parties," UA will pay her $14,000.

No immediate plans have been made to re-open or advertise the job opening, as those duties will be assigned to other staff members for the time being.

You'll recall, following former Razorbacks head coach Bobby Petrino's motorcycle accident on April 1, it was revealed that Dorrell was also on the bike at the time.  Petrino was terminated with cause only days later.
