Owings Mills, MD (Sports Network) - Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs
had successful surgery on his Achilles tendon, the team said Tuesday.
It's not clear how long the NFL's reigning Defensive Player of the Year will
miss, though he could be out for the entire 2012 season or at least a large
part of it.
The Ravens didn't say if he suffered a full or partial tear of the Achilles
but they expect him to make a full recovery.
Reports last week indicated Suggs was hurt playing basketball, but he refuted
those claims to a newspaper, telling the Carroll County (Md.) Times that he
was practicing a conditioning test.
The linebacker later said on Twitter that he would be in a Ravens uniform in
2012.
Suggs helped the Ravens to a 12-4 record and an AFC North title, recording 14
sacks with 70 tackles, seven forced fumbles and a pair of interceptions this
past season.
