LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Three Arkansas football players were arrested early Saturday morning for residential burglary.
Officials say wide receivers Marquel Wade and Maudrecus Humphrey, along with tight end Andrew Peterson were arrested by University of Arkansas Police just after midnight.
Through a university spokeman, Arkansas head coach John L. Smith released the following statement:
"Marquel Wade, Maudrecus Humphrey and Andrew Peterson have been suspended indefinitely. We have high stands for our student-athletes and I expect them to conduct themselves appropriately. Poor conduct and misbehavior will not be tolerated and is not what we expect from the University of Arkansas football program."
An arrest report says witnesses also identified the players. Some of the stolen items were recovered from a bookstore near campus, and the report says a store clerk identified the three as regularly selling used items.
Records from the Washington County Jail indicate the players have a court hearing on Monday. The records do not indicate whether they have attorneys.
According to authorities, all three bonded out yesterday and are set to have a June 15 arraignment where formal charges will be filed.
