Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Tom Milone tossed seven innings of one-run ball and the Oakland Athletics slipped past the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, 2-1, in the first test of a three-game series on Monday.

Milone (6-3) scattered five hits and walked only one while striking out three, lowering his earned-run average at home to a minuscule 0.60. Ryan Cook worked a scoreless eighth and Brian Fuentes put in a 1-2-3 ninth to nail down his fourth save of the season.

Kila Ka'aihue had an RBI single and Seth Smith scored the other run on a double-play groundout by Kurt Suzuki for the A's, who have won two consecutive contests.

Mike Trout drove in the only run of the game with an RBI double for the Angels, losers in three straight games.

Jerome Williams (4-2) allowed two runs on five hits and five walks over 6 1/3 innings to absorb the loss.
