RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (AP) - A list of nominees from universities in Arkansas and Oklahoma has been released for the inaugural Great American Conference Female Athlete of the Year award.
Administrators from nine current league members will vote on the nominees to determine a winner June 20 in Little Rock.
Those being considered include Arkansas-Monticello softball player Kayla Jackson; tennis player Mariel Alvarez of Arkansas Tech; East Central softball player Emily Kennemer and cross country runner Gladys Kimtai of Harding University.
Others in the running are softball player Ashley Ray of Henderson State; Ouachita Baptist volleyball player Allison Frizzell; volleyball player Lunden Azuara of Southeastern Oklahoma; golfer Whitley Patterson of Southern Arkansas and basketball player Darcie Dick of Southwestern Oklahoma.
