Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Philadelphia Phillies catcher Brian
Schneider was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays with a
sprained right ankle after a collision at home plate.
In the sixth inning with runners on first and second, Rays second baseman
Brooks Conrad hit a double off the wall in right-center field.
Schneider was set up in front of the plate as he waited for the throw home
while Sean Rodriguez was attempting to score from first base, and Rodriguez
collided with him.
Schneider's ankle twisted under him as he tumbled backwards and he tried to
stay in the game, but he was forced to take himself out and was replaced by
Carlos Ruiz.
