Washington, DC (Sports Network) - The Washington Nationals activated pitcher
Drew Storen from the 60-day disabled list on Thursday.
Storen has yet to pitch this season after having surgery in April to remove
bone chips from his right elbow.
In 73 relief appearances last year, Storen went 6-3 with a 2.75 earned run
average and 43 saves.
To make room on the roster for Storen, Washington designated outfielder Rick
Ankiel for assignment. He was hitting .228 with five homers and 15 RBI in 68
games this season.
In addition, the Nationals recalled catcher Sandy Leon from Double-A
Harrisburg and placed catcher Jhonatan Solano on the 15-day disabled list.
Leon hit .311 with one homer and 19 RBI in 40 games for Harrisburg this year.
Meanwhile, Solano was batting .314 with two home runs and six RBI in 12
contests for Washington.
