The Hurricanes reached the playoff semifinals last year and are playing their best football in three decades.
Jonesboro has won 33 games over the past four years under head coach Randy Coleman.
This year's team returns 15 starters and Hooten's Arkansas Football ranks the Hurricanes fifth in Class 6A to start the year.
