Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Texas Rangers pitcher Ryan Dempster will miss
the club's upcoming weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays due to
personal reasons. He is expected to rejoin the team on Monday.
Roy Oswalt will take Dempster's spot in the rotation on Saturday.
Dempster is 1-1 with and 8.31 earned run average in three starts since being
acquired from the Chicago Cubs on July 31. The 35-year-old righty posted a 5-5
record with a 2.25 ERA in 16 starts with Chicago.
On Friday, the Rangers recalled outfielder Leonys Martin from Triple-A Round
Rock to fill the roster spot vacated by Dempster, who was placed on the MLB
Restricted List.
Martin has appeared in 15 games with the parent club this season, batting .189
with five RBI. He has hit .362 with 10 homers and 38 RBI in 45 games with the
Express this year.
