Southeastern Sweeps Southland Football Players of the Week Awards
Running back Roberson honored on offense, defensive back Stoddard on defense and punter Mothe on special teams
FRISCO, Texas - Southeastern Louisiana has swept the Southland Conference player of the week awards after its 42-27 victory over Stephen F. Austin on Saturday, the league office announced Monday. Freshman running back Xavier Roberson was named the offensive player of the week, while sophomore defensive back Tyler Stoddard and senior punter Beau Mothe were named the defensive and special teams players of the week, respectively.
Offensive Player of the Week: Xavier Roberson, Southeastern Louisiana
Roberson recorded his first 100-yard rushing game with 21 carries for 117 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-27 victory over Stephen F. Austin. The freshman from Atlanta, Ga., (Tri-Cities H.S.), capped an 11-play, 76-yard drive on the Lions' opening possession with a 30-yard touchdown run before his 8-yard score in the fourth quarter capped a 12-play, 87-yard drive. Roberson also returned a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown after SFA had taken a 21-14 lead with 1:05 remaining in the first half. The return was the fifth-longest in school history and was the first kickoff return for a touchdown at Southeastern since Ray Perkins returned a kick 94 yards against Mississippi Valley State in 2004.

Defensive Player of the Week: Tyler Stoddard, Southeastern Louisiana
Stoddard recorded a team-high 10 tackles in Southeastern's win vs. Stephen F. Austin and was part of a defensive effort that held SFA to 168 total yards and five first downs in the second half. The sophomore from Westlake, La. (Westlake H.S.), stopped an SFA drive in the second quarter with an interception at the SLU 15 and helped extend the Lions' drive on the ensuing possession with a 21-yard pass reception on a fake punt.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Beau Mothe, Southeastern Louisiana
Mothe averaged 45.2 yards per punt on five attempts in the win against Stephen F. Austin. The senior from Belle Chasse, La. (Jesuit H.S.), converted on a fake punt for the second time this season with a 21-yard pass to Tyler Stoddard and teamed with long snapper Rogers Mueller on a successful two-point conversion in the third quarter that gave the Lions a 35-27 lead it would not relinquish.
