San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - San Diego State accepted an invitation to
play BYU in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl Monday.
The game will be played on Dec. 20 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.
"We are honored to be selected to participate in the 2012 San Diego County
Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl," SDSU coach Rocky Long said. "The Poinsettia
Bowl is one of the best events I have ever been involved with and it will be a
tremendous experience for our student-athletes. Best of all, we will have the
opportunity to play in front of our fans and that will make for a great
atmosphere on Dec. 20."
The Aztecs finished the regular season at 9-3, including a 7-1 mark in the
Mountain West conference to earn them a share of their first league title
since 1998.
It will be San Diego State's third straight bowl appearance.
The Aztecs lost to Louisiana-Lafayette, 32-30, in the R&L Carriers New Orleans
Bowl last year and downed Navy, 35-14, in the Poinsettia Bowl in 2010.
