FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - Hog fans are excited about their new coach and a Little Rock T-Shirt Company is capitalizing on the brand new market.
Twenty minutes after the University of Arkansas hired Bret Bielema as head football coach, t-shirt designer Keith Carter came up with a bright idea.
"Bielema, Bielemar, Believer, Bielemar. Ok, I'm a Bielemar, cool," explained Carter, the operator of a small scale t-shirt company named AR State of Mind Clothing.
If you didn't catch it from the name, Carter's company specializes in Arkansas themed t-shirts, and Carter said the new coaching hire is a boost to his business.
"We've been kind of treading water with no coach, no ideas. Nothing new out there," he said. "As soon as the coach was announced it's back to work. What can we do? Get something out there. It's obviously been a boom to us, to the printers, to the stores; you know it kind of trickles down."
Dozens have already placed pre-orders through Facebook, and Carter said the shirts are being distributed to retailers across the state.
"One of my stores, Something Urban, in Fayetteville is going to be carrying it. They ordered some. I've got some other stores here in central Arkansas that are interested, but not quite sure who all is going to be carrying it yet," he said.
Carter said he'd love to share his shirt with Arkansas' new coach, saying it would be a thank you for generating revenue at the right time of the year.
" For sure, it's like a Christmas bonus...If I can figure out how to send him one. I'd love to send him one. I'll send one for him and Jenn."
The shirts will begin going out Friday and retail for $22.
