CONWAY, Ark. (HENDRIX) -- Six Hendrix College student-athletes were selected to their respective sport's Southern Athletic Association All-Sportsmanship Team on Wednesday. The Warriors selected were Stephen Borutta - men's cross country; Leah Bishop - women's cross country; Kelly Rappe' - field hockey; Rob Weingold - men's soccer; Mel Roach - women's soccer; and Melissa Clement - volleyball.
Formed in 2011, the SAA places a special emphasis on good sportsmanship and fair play amongst all competitors.
Borutta, a senior from Webster Groves, Mo., was an All-SAA Honorable Mention this year, placing 13th at the Conference Championship. He also placed second at the Arkansas Division III Championship.
Bishop, a freshman from Durham, N.C., joined the team in October and placed eighth at the Arkansas Division III Championship.
Rappe', a senior from Fort Collins, Colo., was an All-SAA Honorable Mention this season. She tied for ninth in the league with four assists and ender her career as the Warriors' career leader with 22 goals and 54 points.
Weingold, a senior from Jonesboro, Ark., recorded an assist in a 4-0 win against LeTourneau this season. The reserve forward appeared in 31 games during his career.
Roach, a senior from Russellville, Ark., led the SAA with 13 goals and 30 points to go with four assists this season and was an All-SAA First Team selection. She set the school record with four goals and nine points in a win over LeTourneau in September.
Clement, a senior from Rogers, Ark., was an All-SAA First Team honoree by ranking third in the league with 3.33 kills per set and a .319 hitting percentage. She ended her career as the Warriors' all-time career leader with 1,307 kills and 344 blocks.
