LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Little Rock Futbol Club (LRFC) is pleased to host the 7th Annual Showcase of the South.

This year's event for U15-U19 soccer teams will be played over two weekends. The girls will play this weekend, January 19-20 and the boys will compete January 26-27 at Burns Park. The Showcase of the South provides club teams an exhibition style environment in which college coaches from all over the country can view future college bound players.

"We are pleased with the growth and success of the showcase over the years," said Allen Finney, LRFC Executive Director. "It started as a way to help the players in our club take their game to the next level, but has grown in such a way that we are able to offer that same opportunity to other clubs in our state and region. We even broke the event into two weekends last year so that we could accommodate more and not have to turn away teams."

The showcase started in 2007 with 26 teams and 30 college coaches and has grown to 157 teams and over 130 college coaches. This year's showcase will feature approximately 2,800 players on teams from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas, Kansas, Kentucky, Illinois, and Indiana. According to the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau (LRCVB), visitor spending and the subsequent local recycling of visitor dollars should induce a gross impact on local spending in the amount of $2,058,394.

"Obviously, hosting sporting events and tournaments are a significant portion of what we do, and we're grateful for the LRFC's business, and wish their organization continued growth and success," said David Russell, Director of Sports Sales for the LRCVB. "These are great events, and we're thrilled to be a host."

Little Rock Futbol Club (formerly known as the Riverdale Soccer Association) was formed in 1980 and offers recreational, academy, and classic soccer programs for children ages U4-U19. LRFC has grown from 80 kids in 1980 to over 1400 and have won more state championships than any club in Arkansas.
