A-State's Trey Finn honored by College Sports Madness

JONESBORO, Ark. (ASU) - Senior guard Trey Finn of the Arkansas State University men's basketball team has been selected by College Sports Madness as the Madness Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week (Feb. 4) for his exceptional performance in the Red Wolves' two victories this past week.
Finn averaged a team-high 16.0 points (32 pts.), 7.0 rebounds (14 rebs.), and 4.0 steals (eight) per game in A-State's two SBC contests this past week. He scored a game-high tying 18 points to go with a squad-best eight rebounds and three steals in the Red Wolves' 74-62 home win over South Alabama last Thursday (Jan. 31) at the ASU Convocation Center in Jonesboro, Ark. Finn then contributed 14 points with six rebounds and a game-leading five steals in a 75-66 overtime home win against North Texas this past Saturday (Feb. 2). In the two outings, Finn connected on 87.5% of his free throws bygoing 14-of-16 at the stripe. The 6-2, 213-pound backcourt player went 8-of-10 (80%) at the charity stripe versus
South Alabama and was 6-6 at theline against North Texas.
This season, Finn is averaging a team third-best 9.7 points (203 pts.) and a squad second-most 5.0 rebounds (106 rebs.) a contest as a starter in all 21 gamesplayed in. The 2012-13 College Sports Madness All-SBC Preseason Second-Team selection has registered 38 assists, seven blocked shots, and 31 steals while averaging 33.3 minutes per game this campaign. The Little Rock, Ark., native has produced double-digit point totals in 11 outings this season, which includes seven of his last eight appearances for a 13.4 points per game average (107 pts.).
Finn, a 2011-12 All-SBC Second-Team pick by College Sports Madness, currently ranks 20th among the conference's individual leaders in scoring (11.0 ppg.), tied for fourth in steals (1.7 spg.), tied for 10th in free throw percentage (75.0%), 14th in three-point field goals made (1.6 avg.), and 16th in rebounding (5.7 rpg.) for league games only.
For his career, Finn has compiled per game averages of 9.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.3 steals in 112 contests to date. Among the program's all-time leaders, Finn presently ranks fourth in steals (150 total), fifth in three-point field goals made (163 total), 10th in three-point field goal percentage (37.6%), 13th in rebounding (628 rebs.), and 21st in points (1,056 pts.) The selection of Finn represents the second time this 2012-13 season in which an ASU player has claimed College Sports Madness SBC Player of the Week laurels. Junior guard Ed Townsel received the same recognition by the online information service this past month (Jan. 7).
Arkansas State, which is presently 14-8 overall with a first-place tying 8-5 mark in the SBC's West Division, will visit SBC East Division leader Middle Tennessee this Thursday (Feb. 7) in a conference matchup in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. (CT) start time and will be televised live on ESPN 3.
