RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (UAM) - Senior Kori Forge has been named the Great American Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 21 points per game in UAM's wins over Southeastern Oklahoma State and East Central to close out a four-game home stand last week.
Forge (Atlanta, Ga.) started the week with his third 30-point effort of the season, going 10-for-19 from the field, 5-for-11 on three pointers and 6-for-9 at the foul line for a total of 31 points in UAM's 74-67 overtime victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State on Thursday. He eclipsed the 30-point barrier with a seven-point effort in overtime to outscore the entire SOSU team in the extra five minutes.
Also in the win over Southeastern, Forge led all players with a total of nine rebounds.
Two days later, Forge added 11 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in UAM's come-from-behind 65-52 victory over East Central. Forge and the Boll Weevils (13-8, 8-7 GAC) limited ECU to no made field goals and just five points in the final 10 minutes of the second half to erase a six-point deficit.
Overall this season, Forge leads the Great American Conference in scoring with a total of 422 points for an average of 21.1 points per outing.
Forge and the Boll Weevils return to the hardwood this Saturday, February 16 on the road against Southern Nazarene. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. in Bethany, Okla.
