Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving
bested San Antonio Spurs forward Matt Bonner to capture the 3-point contest in
the third competition of Friday's NBA All-Star festivities.
Irving made his first seven shots in the final round en route to finishing
with a best score of 23 points to beat out Bonner, who amassed 20 points.
Bonner had the top score of six players in the first round to advance to the
final, scoring 19 points. Irving finished right behind him with 18 prior to
winning the final round.
Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, Ryan Anderson of the New Orleans
Hornets, Steve Novak of the New York Knicks and Paul George of the Indiana
Pacers were all eliminated after the first round.
Irving's win helped the East earn 10 points, while the West picked up 40
points for amassing the best score in the team round.
At the conclusion of all the competitions, NBA Cares and State Farm will
donate $350,000 to the winning conference's charities with $150,000 going to
the losing conference's charities.
