MAGNOLIA, Ark. (SAU) - After a week in which the Southern Arkansas baseball team posted a 3-1 record, the Muleriders have risen in several national polls; coming in as high as No. 14 according to the d2baseballnews.com poll.
In other national polls in which Southern Arkansas is ranked, the Muleriders (8-3, 3-0 GAC) have remained as the No. 15 team according to the College Baseball Lineup poll, while they have moved up two spots to the No. 26 team according to the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll. The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Poll will be released on Tuesday, February 18th, but the Muleriders are ranked No. 4 in the NCBWA Central Regional poll.
This past week of play for the Muleriders was highlighted by a three-game sweep at home over Southwestern Oklahoma in the opening weekend of Great American Conference (GAC) play. Closer Justin Thomas played a major role in all three of those wins as the left-hander earned the save in each game.
In the upcoming week, the Muleriders are scheduled to play four more games as they will travel to Shreveport, La. to take on LSU-Shreveport in a single-game on Tuesday, February 19th. The Muleriders will conclude their week of games on the road with a three-game GAC series against Northwestern Oklahoma. That series is set to begin on Friday, February 22nd.
