ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (HSU) -- Henderson State turned in a score of 334 and is tied for fourth-place after the opening round of the NCAA Division 2 Super Region 3 Women's Golf Championships in St. Joseph, Mo.
The nine-team field includes four teams from the Great American Conference with Henderson State turning in the best score among the four league institutions.
Kendall Earp shot an opening round 78, 6-over par on the par 72, 5,921-yard St. Joseph Country Club Course. The junior from Crockett, Texas, is just four shots behind tournament leader Allie Ostrander from Augustana College. Earp's round included 11 pars and one birdie.
Katie Kilponen is tied for 13th-place after carding an 81. Kilponen had nine pars and one birdie for her round.
Katie Flinn is tied for 28th-place after a round of 85, while Taylor Brown is tied for 41st-place with a score of 90.
Augustana leads the tournament with a team score of 317, with Northeastern State in second (322) and Central Oklahoma in third (323).
Concordia-St. Paul is tied with Henderson State in fourth-place (334), followed by Minnesota State and Southwestern Oklahoma tied for sixth at 340.
Harding and Arkansas Tech round out the field with the Lady Bisons in eighth-place with a team score of 341 and the Golden Suns in ninth after a round of 343.
The 54-hole event will continue with round two on Monday and the final round on Tuesday.
The top three teams along with the top three individuals not with a team from the super regional will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships which will take place May 15-18, at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
