CONWAY, Ark. (UCA) -- The University of Central Arkansas Bears had four women's and two men's student-athletes named to the Southland Conference Cross Country/Track and Field All-Academic teams on Thursday.
Jordan Chadwick, April Martin, Kayla Nehus and Megan Snow were honored on the women's side, while Trey Carter and Daniel Reese were recognized on the men's team.
Chadwick is a juinor from Bryant who has a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in physical therapy. Martin, a senior from Yellville, has a 3.72 in math education. Nehus, a juinor from Little Rock, has a 3.78 in speech language pathology. Snow, a senior from Mt. View, had a 3.41 in kinesiology/physical education. Chadwick was one of six women with a 4.0 GPA.
Carter is a sophomore from Conway who has a 3.68 in marketing. Reese, a senior from Texarkana, has a 3.46 in finance.
The SLC Student-Athletes of the year were Lamar's Joe Wade and Nicholls State's Jaimee Springer.
The Southland Conference awards committee, which consists of one administrator from each of the 10 member universities, votes for the student-athletes of the year. The student-athlete of the year award is presented to one student-athlete who achieves excellence in both academics and athletics. All nominees shall have earned at least a 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and demonstrated athletics achievement for a least two years at the nominating institution.
All-academic members earned at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, completed at least one full academic year and participated in at least 50 percent of the school's events.
