FOUNTAIN LAKE, Ark. (KTHV) - Continuing with our THV 11 Game Night coverage this evening, we're taking a look at the Fountain Lake Cobras.
The cobras had a record of 11 to 3 last season, getting second in the 3A Conference, but these cobras are not a strangers to reaching titles. In 2008, they were conference champions, followed by 2009 when they won conference and the state title.
According to head coach Tommy Gilleran, their strength is their speed, which is why they love the Wing-Tee play.
"We like it because its gives us an advantage of nobody seeing it all the time, and to take advantage because we've got a lot of kids that love to run the ball. We've got more running backs then we do quarterbacks, so hopefully, that's the advantage that we take from it. We don't have to be as skilled throwing the ball, but we tried to get skilled at it, but we don't have to be as skilled because we're going to rely on the run game first and pass game second," he said.
The Fountain Lake Cobras are hoping to run their way back to the conference and state titles starting with Maumelle on Sept 6.
