MAGNOLIA, Ark. (SAU) - The Southern Arkansas football team is scheduled to play five games within the confines of Wilkins Stadium during the 2013 season and each home date will have a variety of festivities that will engage the fans and provide an affordable family-friendly environment for all in attendance.
Kick-starting the 2013 home slate will be United Way Day on Saturday, September 14. As part of this, the Columbia County United Way will have a tent set up near the concession stand on the home side where fans can come and take part in a silent auction. Among the items that can be bid on will be a variety of Southern Arkansas athletics memorabilia. All proceeds from the silent auction will go to benefit the Columbia County United Way.
United Way's mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good. The group supports Abilities Unlimited, Boy Scouts, Boys & Girls Club, Columbia County Independent Living, 4H, Girl Scouts, Hospitality House, Literacy Council, Magnolia Specialized Services, Salvation Army, Stew Pot, Southern Christian Mission, and Columbia County Senior Meal Service, Inc. For all home games this season, the SAU athletics department is pleased to announce the renewal of the Dominos Punt-Pass-Kick competition, Kidz Zone, and Mulegating.
Each game, one lucky SAU student will be selected to participate in the Dominos Punt-Pass-Kick competition at halftime for a chance to win free Dominos Pizza for a year. More information on how students can enter the contest and be selected will be distributed at a later time.
The Kidz Zone will once again be located in the southeast corner of the stadium during the game. Kidz Zone will feature an inflatable jump house and obstacle course along with basketball and other activities. The area will be staffed by Mulerider student-athletes.
Mulegating, an event hosted by the SAU Alumni Association, will take place prior to kickoff at the SAU Welcome Center from 3:30-6 p.m. The public is invited to begin their own Mulegating festivities any time on Saturday.
One new feature to the game-day experience that SAU is happy to announce is the addition of the Dominos Fan of the Game. Similar to the Dominos Punt-Pass-Kick competition, the Fan of the Game will be selected prior to the game. For the lucky SAU student selected, they will be allowed to have themselves and one friend sit in a couch on the field near one of the endzones. The Fan of the Game will receive a free Mulerider Athletics/Dominos t-shirt and will be able to order one (1) large pizza of their choice from Dominos. The pizza will be delivered to the lucky fan at the couch and they will also receive a Mulerider Athletics souvenir cup along with free beverages from the concession stand, which will also be delivered.
